Abstract
A barcode system is basically a means of recording data in a visual format. The data is encoded in a special optical or machine-readable form, where it can be read later. This data is normally linked to information about the object to which it is attached. In the case of retail stores, that object is the product that is being purchased. The data on the barcode is used to check out the price of the product.
