Abstract
The two Forts Fordyce, one of stone and one of earthwork, located along what was known as the Beaufort/Argyll Road, are shown. The Forts were named after Lieut-Col John Fordyce killed in the vicinity of the Forts 6 November 1851 in the Eighth Frontier War of 1851-53

[Unsigned; 1852?]. - Scale 200ft = I inch; 3.033 chains = I inch [1:2,400]. - 1 coloured manuscript map in ink on fine wove paper; 56 x 75 cm. - Orientation: magnetic north. - Grahamstown Royal Engineers' stamp 1861; B. 11;O.1. - Table of references to the plan and a table of accommodation for troops. - [Note] N.B.: Dotted blue lines show boundaries of proposed erven. - Each erf is 150 ft long and 80 ft wide.
